Thank you for reading the newsletter this month and this year. This month’s question is: what is your favourite holiday gift to give another engineer/geoscientist/technician/technologist?
Everyone is so different, but a Raspberry Pi is always a great gift for anyone who likes tinkering. There are just so many different diy projects you can do with one, and you can never have enough of them!
Favourite gift to give to another engineer is always Lego, Usually a technic set since they usually have parts that move, and cause a motion to occur.
Agreed. On a similar note, I like giving the lego flash drives, but I couldn’t find them this year. Thank you for the comment, Asher.
Anything that I can 3D print for them! Preferably something useful
Nothing beats a custom mug.. zazzle.ca has some pretty funny ones
A coffee mug warmer – perfect addition to your cozy work from home set-up!
A Swiss Army Pocket Knife is a great gift to any engineer!
Favorite holiday gift is family photos
Lego, every time. Not only fun to put together, but so many themes that you can customize it to the interests of the person you’re giving it to.
Favorite gift is DSLR camera for photoshoot and nature expedition.
My go to gift is always board games. Lately, I’ve been playing Tapestry and Terraforming Mars – which have a lot of great links to engineering.
Noise cancelling headphones. Can’t go back once you start using them.
A fun looking stress ball, great desk companion when thinking hard about something.
My favourite holiday gift to give another aspiring engineer/geoscientist/technician/technologist is to purchase him access to PPE exam prep course from this website.
Great idea! We’ll happily welcome any of your friends that need our services. Thank you, Humayun!
A Swiss Army Pocket Knife is a great gift, I would love it
a vertical mouse with pad
I would give a measurement handbook to civil engineer.
Something like a joke mug or coaster. I’ve received a few myself and they’re great. Also, anything like a unique fidget toy, gyroscope or “perpetual motion” toy.
I like to give a seasonal gadget (every year there are 2 or 3 promoted products at very low cost, that some years ago would have been very expensive). Happy holidays!
I guess 3D printer or a robotic arm would be a great option!
Wowstick electric screwdriver for electronic lovers
Favorite gift to an engineer, Lego for sure… Keep building
For work, a laser distance measure, great tool that engineers of most disciplines could use. For out of work, gift card for booze, since most engineers I know also like to drink!
I like giving a complicated lego set to an engineer. It is always a good way to relax and exercise your mind at the same time. You can always keep coming back to it, and it wouldn’t bore you.
