  1. Since many of us will be stuck at home, what activities are you doing on your own or with the family to pass the time?
Bonus points for those that list engineering-related activities.

  2. Social distancing appears to me as the time to brush up or upgrade necessary skills, so that when the things get back to normal, I will be to able to serve workplace more efficiently than ever before. I’m currently e-learning subjects related to Electro-optical engineering, Automatic Electric Power Generation and Control, Smart Grid, etc.

  3. I’m currently doing a virtual presentation with elementary school children to talk about STEM and all the fun things about transportation engineering!

  4. Fayyaz Mawani

    – Playing outside with the kids
    – Doing math and English work with my son
    – Online engineering knowledge research (electrical, mechanical and project management)
    – Trying to make the most of this time and have fun

  5. Hello Gavin, I am spending time talking courses online and spending time with the family and watching movies. It is hard to stay home for many weeks. I hope this thing ends soon and life is back to normal. Stay safe.

  6. Yuri Botero, P.Eng.

I am spending lot of time with my 6 y/o daughter, she says she want to be an engineer like Dad when she grows up. We do Khan Academy, she’s surprisingly good at Math!!
I am working on my Classic Car rebuild project: a 1959 Land Rover; bolts and nuts restoration.

  7. Samantha Feist

Studying for me PPE exam, of course! The lack of places to go out to do things at, and that leaving the house is a little less appealing right now has at least given me time to study for my upcoming exam. I have no excuses that I’ve been “too busy” to study!
And of course, going for walks on the (wide) path behind our house, to get some fresh air and a clear head!

  8. Engineering is no longer an essential service so I will be working from home starting this Monday – I’m excited/nervous about this new phase which I hope will end sooner than later.
My weekends which were always busy now is free with time to offload the stress of reaching a goal within a set time as there is no longer a timeline I can see in the near future.
I have been doing a lot of reading, catching up with friends and preparing for the technical exams just in case the May exams are back!

I’m guilty of working this weekend so I can finish off deadlines for next week – perks of working from home I guess (or not).

  9. I am cooking and baking a lot!
Trying to get to many pending house fixing and organizing projects
Trying to catch up on many pending articles and newsletters from various organizations
    Working out at home
    Watching shows and relaxing
Above all trying to stay calm
