- Mechanical engineer Zoe Stephenson has begun building fighting robots on Discovery Network show “BattleBots.” Stephenson says she hopes to encourage girls to enter STEM fields with the show.
- Doug Campbell, University of Saskatchewan biomedical engineering student is now on a Mars "space mission" simulation in the Utah desert that will last two weeks. The simulation includes growing his own food and conducting outdoor explorations.
- Tally Jump is a device that counts, tracks, and records your progress while jumping rope. The device is placed under your shoelaces and uses a mobile app to track your progress and also features other tools such as a metronome to help keep your rhythm.
- MIA is a robotic toy for your pets that will automatically play with them, give them treats, and keep them active so you don't have to. Canadian creators of the robot claim it will also reduce separation anxiety for both pets and owners.
- EARTH is an interactive model of planet earth that links up to a mobile app to give you information on areas you point your phone at on the physical model. The augmented reality globe also features data on the planet's history, physical geography, and other areas.
