Thank you for reading our October Newsletter. Here are our questions for this month:

Q1. What is the most useful skill you have learned on the job, and how has it helped you in your work?
Q2. Is there a new technology you are excited to try soon? What interests you about it?

  2. The most useful skill I learned well on the job, is developing unique solutions given ambiguous requirements.
A new technology that I want to try out in the future is metal 3-D printing, since it allows for the development of complex geometry, not possible through traditional manufacturing means.

  3. The most useful skill I’ve learned on the job is developing strong people skills: the ability to connect with others, understand their needs, and build trust quickly.

1: Holistic troubleshooting. A single problem in a mechatronic system can have a mechanical, electrical, or software cause. The most vital skill is being able to diagnose across all those disciplines to find the actual root of the failure.
    2. Generative Design with metal 3D printing. It lets us create parts that are AI-optimized for maximum strength and minimum weight. I’m interested in building more efficient machines with components that were simply impossible to manufacture before.
