Old NPPE questions are not released publicly, so the 500 questions in our course are ones that our team has developed.  For each one, we make sure that it relates to one of the 40 syllabus topics - from I.1 to VI.4.  We always provide a full explanation and reference a textbook page or other source of the recommended reading materials. Sometimes our questions are inspired by textbook material, real case studies or hypothetical situations.  

The purpose is not to give you real exam questions (since no one can do that); instead, it is to test and identify gaps in your knowledge so you can cover them before writing the exam.

No. APEGA, who develops the NPPE questions for all participating provinces, has confirmed with us that the exam is based on a body of knowledge and not on the recommended textbooks. We have designed our course in a way that you don't need the texts since we provide URLs when we need to refer you to additional reading. However, if you have the books or plan to buy them, that works since we also provide the textbook page or section numbers. If you're not sure about purchasing the books, we recommend getting started without the textbooks as they can always be ordered later.

Yes. While our course includes URLs to trustworthy websites making the textbooks optional, the course references the textbook page numbers should you wish to dig deeper into a particular topic.  The course references the two latest versions of both books:

• "Ethics" book - Canadian Professional Engineering and Geoscience: 6th and 5th edition. You can use either one.
• "Law" book - Practical Law of Architecture, Engineering, and Geoscience 3rd and 4th editions. We'll also be supporting the 2nd edition book until the November 2023 sitting.  You can use either one.  Note: some associations list the "Law for Professional Engineers, Canadian and Global Insights" by  D.L. Marston as a recommended law book.  We don't refer to this book in the course since we believe the former textbook, by Brian M. Samuels and Doug R. Sanders, aligns better with the syllabus. 

Yes, you can log in from any device to access and use the course. An internet connection is required.   A laptop or desktop-size screen is recommended as this is what you will use when taking the exam.

Larger screens are also better for viewing PDF files, using the exam simulator, flipping flashcards, etc. The embedded videos and modules work on all modern browsers.

Yes. You can get started with the 250-question package now and pay the difference to upgrade to the 500-question package if and when you're ready.

In step 7 of the course, simply click on any of the 500-question level quizzes and fill out your payment information.

You can go through the course at any speed you like.  It is a 7-step, self-paced, on-demand course.  All of the content is there waiting for you to interact with.  Within your duration of access, you can use it for the entire duration or as a last-minute study aid.  In step 0.3 of the course, we provide you with several suggested plans for the following durations: 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, and 5 or more weeks.  Simply start with the plan closest to your remaining duration and then adjust it accordingly. If possible, get started as early as possible, making the course more enjoyable, and you'll retain more knowledge.

If you're starting from scratch, we recommend:

• 5 weeks of studying @ 1 hour/day (1st option);
• 3 weeks of studying @ 1.5 hour/day (2nd option);
• 1 week of studying @ 4 hours/day

No.  You can use the exam simulator as much as you want.
