1. Jan Zalasiewicz is a geologist that has done research which claims humans have caused a new geological time from our melting of glaciers to our agriculture habits. This new age of man is being called Anthropocene and is believed to have started in the 1950s.
2. Karen Paquin is a chemical engineering grad from Laval University who earned a bronze medal the Rio Olympics for Rugby. I'll be covering Karen and the other engineering grad Olympians in a blog post later this month.
1. Chipsetter ONE: A Desktop Machine to Automate Prototyping for Electronic Developers - A team from Hamilton, Ontario is seeking backers to develop its desktop pick-and-place machine to allow you to assemble your own PCB prototypes.
2. ZEIº - The Most Simple Time Tracking Solution - A team from Graz, Austria has developed an 8-sided polygon device used to track your time. Simply label each side with your project or client name, sync it to your time management software (e.g. Basecamp) and you're ready to start tracking like a pro.
3. Altered: Nozzle - Use 98% Less Tap Water. A team from Stockholm, Sweden has come up with an aerator that supplies a mist of water through your tap. It claims that most tasks like washing hands and dishes can be performed while using only a well-designed mist of water.
