1. Michael McGhee, a Scottish civil engineer, has developed a program that tracks the exact location of the sun at any time, from anywhere. This information can be used by anyone that owns a glass structure (e.g. skyscraper, solar farm) to identify areas that may be impacted by blinding reflections and associated heat concentrations.
2. Muyinatu A. Lediju Bell, an engineering professor at Johns Hopkins University, designs medical imaging systems that produce clearer pictures from advanced communication between robotics, sound, and light.
1. Bloomsky - Community-Based Smart Weather System - A team from Redwood City, California has developed local weather monitors that can connect to your home to adjust it according to what is happening outside.
2. IOFIT Smart Golf Shoes - Could golf shoes really improve your slice? These shoes have with thin embedded sensors to track your balance and weight transfer to give you actionable data about your swing.
3. CitizenSpring - A New York team developed an app that helps communities test and share drinking water information to locate safe drinking water.
4. SuraiTea (Our newsletter sponsor from July) - Has launched its own Indigogo campaign helping refugees settle in Canada with a new job.
