- Jennifer Hayward, a Canadian engineer, was awarded one of three Engineers Canada–Manulife Scholarships ($12,500) on February 27th. Hayward studies antibiotic resistant bacteria downstream from clinical and agricultural settings in hopes of diminishing the threat it has on human health.
- Dutch engineer Arkaitz Garro invented a facial recognition device to tell him when his cat wants to be let indoors. The gadget will only recognize Garro’s cat’s face, then sending a message to his cell phone will notify him to let the cat back inside. The software is available online for anybody to use to reproduce the device.
- PowerPod Case is a silicone case that allows you to charge your apple airpods wirelessly. The electronics inside the case are very slim, pressed between two layers of silicone with a copper coil in the back of the case to transfer energy from a charging pad to the case. The PowerPod Case is made by a student who hopes to get the product to market by summer.
- Kico-Box is a rubik’s cube-like gadget designed to teach kids how to code. Teaching material can be purchased to load onto the box and its small size makes it convenient to take along anywhere.

Perfect for the commuter, tourists, and anybody who doesn’t like sitting in traffic or waiting in line. You can search hundreds of points of interest such as gyms, schools, and hotels.
